Who would have thought...

... that you can buy such nice desserts in the supermarket?! Today I found some individual lime cheesecakes (some kind of different version of key lime pie) which I was "tricked" into buying because of the appealing packaging... In the end it lacked a bit of the homemade touch, but was still very tasty.

Twice in one day...

Today as usual (by now) on Wednesdays I go to the market close by to buy fruit and veg. And as always I have a very hard time passing the Italian stand without buying something... today it was the tiramisu that I was already last week craving. It does not look very appetising as it is sold in a very simple and not very original plastic box. It tasted better than it looked, but still it was nothing overwhelming...

Since I am starting to get used to having a dessert every day after lunch, I thought I would extend this practice also to dinner time. Tonight I tried a recipe from a great book that a very dear friend gave to me. I had bought two different types of melons and they were perfectly ripe and sweet, so mixed with mint and lime, this was a great ending to dinner.

From this summer

While looking through the photos from this summer, I found this one from Jerusalem. I don't know what the yellow bun-looking sweet is called, but it was lovely! Lite som en lussebulle, men mycket godare. Mera saftig pa nagot sätt, jättegod!

Not what I expected part II

This weekend we were in Barcelona, which was very nice and warm! After having dinner one night I ordered a biscuit with ice cream, however it was more like a lot of ice cream with a little bit of biscuit crumbs spread around the plate... It was not exactly what I was wanting, but with a little bit of help I managed to finish it anyway.

Apples

Last weekend we were invited for lunch to some friends' house and we brought a light dessert in a pretty box.

An apple cake with a lot of apples.

A different take on cheesecake...

Last night we went out for a little celebration. I ordered a cheescake, but to be honest when it came out I was kind of confused... the only thing resembling a cheesecake was the digestive base. The rest was somewhere in between a mousse and a creamy mix. Anyhow, it was very very cute and with nice details, like the little raspberries filled with raspberry sauce and little gold flakes on top (however you cannot see it very well in the photo).

A cheesecake or not... call it what you want, I call it amazing!

Godis

Italian corner

Today at the market I bought some Italian little pastries filled with vanilla rum cream. They were really quite tasty, but a little bit "heavy"... Next week I need to try the Tiramisu.

Weekend

This weekend we were invited to a country house about 1.5 h outside Paris. Sun-bathing by the pool and barbequing was fun, but the crepe that we had after lunch was the real highlight! The super thin crepe with only sugar inside is one of the best I have ever had... that is why I had to have two!

Goodies from the airport

Yesterday I received a little surprise from the airport... let's see how long they last...

Market day again!

Lots of fresh herbs and lettuce, different courgettes and aubergines and a mix of tomatoes. I love how you can mix and match the vegetables yourself, but I'm probably more excited about the array of colours and shapes than I am about actually preparing the food...

Polish wedding

This weekend we went to a Polish wedding and we ate and ate and ate... but not a lot of sweets though. The food was very good, but the sweets were much less of a success. Therefore I was not too disappointed when the big plate of cakes was swiftly taken away from me.

The following night when we went out for dinner I had this chocolate coulant with peppermint ice cream. It was good in taste, but unfortunately they had left it too long in the oven and the middle was not runny, like a real gooey coulant should be. All in all I ate very well in Poland, but there is definitely room for improvement in the sweets department...
