Sunday treat
Different versions of a mille-feuille. The first one is with caramel and the second one with strawberry. However, I must say I much prefer the normal plain one.

The best for last
The last evening in Italy we had dinner in this amazing cave restaurant.

And the dessert was probably the best one I had during the weekend.

Panforte

Choices and surprises
During our extended weekend in Italy, we stayed at a fantastic hotel.
This was part of the breakfast buffet and already in the morning I had to make some very difficult choices...

And adding to my infatuation, was when ordering some drinks (at night, not breakfast), they brought us assorted chocolates and almonds to go with the drinks.

Now we're talking
I had high expectations for the Italian wedding last weekend and I'll let you know, I was not disappointed! The dessert tables (yes, in plural) were filled with cakes, fruit, candy etc etc. I did not even manage to get photos of all of the things...
From the fruit platter (even though it is not visible in this picture), I tried the cactus fruit for the first time. It did not taste of that much, but I suppose it might be an acquired taste.

This was actually whipped cream with a lot of fresh berries. Usually I am not a big fan of whipped cream, but this was very simple and fresh.

From this tray, I only tried the little chocolate truffles. When I went for my second helping, the rest was already gone... maybe I missed something?

I liked the mini tiramisu and the profiteroles (to the right) with a lot of chocolate sauce.

In the end I did not have room for trying the wedding cake... A lot of the time I think the main purpose of the wedding cake is to be cut, not eaten anyway.

Never again!
Today I had pizza for lunch... it brings me back a few weeks ago, when I tried the pizza from the bakery below, which is actually not bad. That time I also bought a piece of pistachio sponge cake... which turned out to be a really big mistake! I dislike marzipan and the taste was the same and even worse since I had actually expected it to taste of pistachio. I was not prepared for such an unpleasant surprise...

Who would have thought...
... that you can buy such nice desserts in the supermarket?! Today I found some individual lime cheesecakes (some kind of different version of key lime pie) which I was "tricked" into buying because of the appealing packaging... In the end it lacked a bit of the homemade touch, but was still very tasty.

Twice in one day...
Today as usual (by now) on Wednesdays I go to the market close by to buy fruit and veg. And as always I have a very hard time passing the Italian stand without buying something... today it was the tiramisu that I was already last week craving. It does not look very appetising as it is sold in a very simple and not very original plastic box. It tasted better than it looked, but still it was nothing overwhelming...

Since I am starting to get used to having a dessert every day after lunch, I thought I would extend this practice also to dinner time. Tonight I tried a recipe from a great book that a very dear friend gave to me. I had bought two different types of melons and they were perfectly ripe and sweet, so mixed with mint and lime, this was a great ending to dinner.

From this summer
While looking through the photos from this summer, I found this one from Jerusalem. I don't know what the yellow bun-looking sweet is called, but it was lovely! Lite som en lussebulle, men mycket godare. Mera saftig pa nagot sätt, jättegod!
Not what I expected part II
This weekend we were in Barcelona, which was very nice and warm! After having dinner one night I ordered a biscuit with ice cream, however it was more like a lot of ice cream with a little bit of biscuit crumbs spread around the plate... It was not exactly what I was wanting, but with a little bit of help I managed to finish it anyway.

Apples
Last weekend we were invited for lunch to some friends' house and we brought a light dessert in a pretty box.

An apple cake with a lot of apples.

A different take on cheesecake...
Last night we went out for a little celebration. I ordered a cheescake, but to be honest when it came out I was kind of confused... the only thing resembling a cheesecake was the digestive base. The rest was somewhere in between a mousse and a creamy mix. Anyhow, it was very very cute and with nice details, like the little raspberries filled with raspberry sauce and little gold flakes on top (however you cannot see it very well in the photo).
A cheesecake or not... call it what you want, I call it amazing!

Godis

Italian corner
Today at the market I bought some Italian little pastries filled with vanilla rum cream. They were really quite tasty, but a little bit "heavy"... Next week I need to try the Tiramisu.

Weekend
This weekend we were invited to a country house about 1.5 h outside Paris. Sun-bathing by the pool and barbequing was fun, but the crepe that we had after lunch was the real highlight! The super thin crepe with only sugar inside is one of the best I have ever had... that is why I had to have two!

Market day again!
Lots of fresh herbs and lettuce, different courgettes and aubergines and a mix of tomatoes. I love how you can mix and match the vegetables yourself, but I'm probably more excited about the array of colours and shapes than I am about actually preparing the food...

Polish wedding
This weekend we went to a Polish wedding and we ate and ate and ate... but not a lot of sweets though. The food was very good, but the sweets were much less of a success. Therefore I was not too disappointed when the big plate of cakes was swiftly taken away from me.

The following night when we went out for dinner I had this chocolate coulant with peppermint ice cream. It was good in taste, but unfortunately they had left it too long in the oven and the middle was not runny, like a real gooey coulant should be. All in all I ate very well in Poland, but there is definitely room for improvement in the sweets department...

Raspberries
Yesterday I also bought some raspberries at the market. They were so sweet and would have been perfect to use when baking a cake... however I already ate them all. In the morning together with muesli and yoghurt.
We celebrated another birthday recently and for that one we had little individual raspberry tarts. Wonderful!

A while ago I also bought from the same bakery some chocolate mousse topped with raspberries. I liked the raspberries more than the mousse though.

While still on the subject of raspberries I have a picture from Ladurée where I had this lovely masterpiece. I cannot remember the name of it, but is was really very tasty! Soft but crunchy, if you know what I mean?!

Market day
These are some of the things that I found at the market today. They do not have that much to do with sweets, but I suppose the carrots could be used to bake a carrot cake, but that was not what I had planned for today...

Not quite what I expected...
Two weekends ago we did a lunch cruise on the Seine to celebrate a birthday. For dessert I chose the hot pear sabayon, which turned out to be like this...

It was not what I expected, but it was still alright... nothing I would need to order again though. When it came out it was too hot to eat and after I let it cool down, the texture turned a little funny... almost like when you chew a chewing gum for too long.
Also before lunch we celebrated with a little bit of cake, which I must say was pretty much one of the best strawberry cakes I have ever eaten. The crushed pistachio on top gave it a nice touch.

Cute
The other day I bought an apple tart and it was wrapped in such cute paper.

Only crunchy pastry and apples; simple and not too sweet, just amazing. Now when I think about it afterwards, maybe it was pears...

Montmartre...
no visit is complete without stopping to eat a crepe.

Mine was filled with pears, but I actually liked the one filled with banana better.

Delicatobollar
The visit to Ikea ended with Delicato bollar. Ja-a jag tycker faktiskt att dessa bollar "utan utgangsdatum" med E-ämnen och allt är delikata.

It was a busy weekend! This was Sunday's dessert after lunch bought from the bakery downstairs. Fabulous!

Florentin
This was my dessert after lunch today. It was nice and crunchy, but even though I like sweet things, it was maybe a little bit too sweet for my taste...
